Development of the Baby
1. The baby is about 12cm in length and weighs about 60g.
2. The baby is now able to play with himself, and his toy is the umbilical cord. Sometimes, he grasps it; sometimes, he pulls it. This may affect the amount of the oxygen and nutrient delivered to the baby. However, this is usually not a cause for concern.
Change to the expectant mother
1. The expectant mother will be more comfortable to wear maternity dress now.
2. Weight has started to increase significantly. Pain in the abdomen and groin still occur.
3. The expectant mother may also be vulnerable to cold or other respiratory infections.
