Foreign Domestic Helper Levy Concession
In Singapore, a employer needs to pay a levy of $265 monthly to employ a foreign domestic helper. However, if the employer or spouse has a child or grandchild who is below 12 years and is a Singapore citizen, the monthly levy will be reduced to $170 per month before and on Feb 2013. The amount will be lowered to $120 from March 2013 as announced by the Financial Minister on 25th Feb 2013.
Parents or grandparents do not need to apply for the levy concession as long as the details of the family members living in the same household are provided during the application of work pass for the domestic helper.
